US Economy Adds 243,000 new jobs in January 2012.

Unemployment rate drops to 8.3%. The only complaint, which really isn't a complaint at all is that we need several more months like this to recover all the ground lost in 2008.

    Hi Face ,
IMHO and plz correct me if i am wrong.
It is not a rosy as the numbers would have you believe.
Yes the offical unemployment rate fell from 8.5 to 8.3, but those not in the labor force (not counted in the statistics) surged from 86.7 million to 87.9 million.
This is the largest absolute jump in 'Persons Not In Labor Force' on record.
In reality an increase in NFP of 243K jobs is a decrease of nearly a million jobs in the workforce.

For Obama to get the unemployment rate to negative by election time, all he has to do is to drop the labor force participation rate (Number of persons counted in unemployment rate) to about 55%. At present it is at a 30 year low of 63.7% and increaseing its down trend.
